Summer

Since the summer has come here in Stockholm for real I think its a good oppurtunity to present a couple of photos by the Swedish photographer Lars Tunbjörk. The images here are from his photo series Country beside itself from 1993 and I love Borås from 2006 (Borås is a town in Sweden were Tunbjörk was born) . It shows how we in Sweden spend our long awaited summerdays, dreaming dancing, shoping and much more.

Organ magic

When I was a kid I liked to play with background music. The songs became a part of the play togheter with the toys. One record that I loved back then and still listen to very often was Bo Hansson and his own soundtrack to the Lord Of The Rings. This record was released back in 1970, long before the big hype with Peter Jackson movies and its typical Hollywood orchestra soundtrack.
Bo Hansson plays the Hammond organ wich is the main instrument, with this to lead the way this album is for me one of the best music that someone here in Sweden has yet produced.

Many years after Bo Hanssons Lord of The Rings another great Swedish organ Player Erik Malmberg has taken on the journey that Bo Hansson started. With his former band Sagor & Swing and his Own project. Bo and Erik also found each other some years ago and now they do collaborations so the Swedish Organ tradition lives on!

Download some songs here (Great mellodies are guaranteed): http://www.mediafire.com/?hmzzzmlyyum

Very moody song and music video for Sagor & Swing called Into The forest

Sagor & Swing means Fairytales & Swing btw

The Wizard Of Oz goes Disco

If you fell down in the land of Oz and found it to be one big Discoteque this is how it could sound. In the late 70.s an American producer called MECO (Domenico Monardo) decided to produce this record, if you dont like it you will probably laugh anyway its a very strange one. And i really love the record cover done by Gribbit, its impoissible to find a good site with their artwork represented but they did many great covers back in the 70.s and 80.s

Bruce Bickford

Clay and Puppet animation has always been two of my favourite animation techniques. The magic in bringing materials to life and give it an personality and an own world to exist in is beautiful. Although my own experience in the area is limited to an audience view so far. One of the magicians in the field is Bruce Bickford who creates ubelievable films with clay. If you get the chance buy the movie The Amazing Mr Bickford wich is a collaboration with Frank Zappa. These two artist worked togehter for 8 years with different projects such as Baby Snakes and City of Tiny Lights in interwievs they have expressed a big admiration for each others work. I guess the art they did togheter(Bickford is the animator) speaks for itself so here is a couple of animations and clips from the documentary about Bruce Bickford Monster Road buy it!

This is part one in a longer discussion with Bruce Bickford check out the rest here

Drexciya interview

Here is a recorded interview with one of the Detroit scenes greatest artists James Stinson. A musician known for all his different projects all with a different feel and story. In 2002 the electronic music lost a great role model when he passed away way to early. Listen to this interview and be inspired by a really dedicated artist who truly loved what he did. Exept from Drexciya wich he produced togheter with Gerald Donald James Stinson worked under these names. Clarence G, Lab Rat XL, Other People Place, The, Shifted Phases, Transllusion. He was also a member in these groups Abstract Thought, Elecktroids, L.A.M.

Legowelt+Smackos

Sometimes it can be fun to dive down in the harddrive and dig out music that you almost forgot that you had there. I got a great surprise when I found these old Legowelt and Smackos tracks laying there, a real treasure from the past. I dont think Danny Wolfers who is the artist behind both these names needs any further introduction but please visit his web page and myspace page and understand how good his productions are. Actually I belive these songs are downloaded from the same website some years ago. It contains a lot of donwloadable songs so go and explore.

Legowelt Disco Rout music video. Really like this video with its old school 3d graphics,
goes perfectly with the song

Chromatics

Chromatics from Portland Oregon is one of the bands I have been listening to the most since i found them for about 3 years ago. Here is 10 of their tracks that really takes you on a voyage. Chromatics has a perfect blend of beautiful mellodies, darkness, great basslines, cosmic arpreggios and dreamy human and robotic vocals. They are signed to the label Italians Do It Better with a couple of other really good artists as well. I can really recomend Mirage and Glass Candy Johny Jewel from Chromatics is also one of Glass Candys members.

Syntax Error

For some years ago there was a great radio program on the Swedish national radio station P3. It was called Syntax Error and they only played video game music mainly from old games. Since I like the Radio station P3 and think they run some good music programs I dont understand the reason why they decided to close this one down. I miss this show and game music has many fans out there. So bring it back now! Until then here is 31 episodes of the program from 2001. The language spoken by the host Sol is Swedish but he mainly plays music so you can easily enjoy it even if you dont speak the language. Each episode is around 15 minutes with game music at its best.

The 31 Episodes are divided in 5 different ZIP files bacause of the file hosting sites size limitations
